Shadow IT is the general term for any technology in use at your organization that is "outside the ownership or control of IT."

Let's say, an employee downloads a video tool for an upcoming meeting that's not commonly used within your organization or accesses work accounts on a personal device.

While seemingly harmless, this practice can create more unanticipated vulnerabilities than one might think—including compliance violations, customer data leaks, systems hacking, and more.
